Welcome to the website of Shimodate Wakahaya Taiko Kai located in Shimodate City, Ibaraki.
Wakahaya Taiko is a Japanese Taiko performing
group founded in 1980. Wakahaya Taiko seeks:
to promote juveniles' healthy development as well as adults' lifelong learning.
to improve both physical and spiritual strength by Taiko drumming
to acquire, pass down, and spread the local festival music
Wakahaya Taiko has had the privilege of performing
at the Carnegie Hall in New York both in
1998 and 1996. Besides the past several prizes,
Wakahaya also won the forth prize in the
Japan Taiko Junior Contest in 1999.
